LIBRARY CLOSURE

Our local library branch will be closing on July 13, 2009 for a seismic and structural upgrade. The adjoining child care facility as well as the park and the section of Wellesley Street near the library will also be closed.

The construction is expected to take approximately one year. We will have to use other library branches during that time.

NEIGHBORHOOD ISSUES!

2180 El Camino Real Project (also known as the "JJ&F block")

The proposed redevelopment of 2180 El Camino Real would require a zone change from CN (Neighborhood Commercial) to PC (Planned Community). This project has now begun the formal public review process, and details of the project are available here.

The CTRA Board of Directors adopted the following statement about the project on April 22, 2009. An earlier statement by the Board may be found here.

Welcome to the College Terrace Residents' Association home page!

College Terrace is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Palo Alto, an odd 2 block by 12 block strip of land wedged in between Stanford University and the Stanford Research Park. We can even claim to be the original Palo Alto: when Alexander Gordon subdivided the area in 1891 he had planned to name it "Palo Alto" but was persuaded by Governor Stanford to settle for "College Terrace" instead!

The College Terrace Residents' Association (CTRA) is open to everyone who lives in College Terrace. Jim Culpepper, the founder of our Association, passed away in February of 2003. Since Jim was such an important part of our neighborhood, we planted three Magnolia trees in Mayfield Park (near the library) in Jim's memory. Click here to read more about this special person.

As a neighborhood, we treasure the diversity of architectural styles and sizes, the walkability and human scale of our neighborhood, our mix of Silicon Valley engineers, students, musicians and retired people. We do not want to become another uniform "GarageScape" tract!

If you're a resident of the Terrace send an email with your contact information to CTRAnews-owner@yahoogroups.com and you'll get neighborhood news updates a couple of times a month. Please check out our other communication forms as well. And don't forget to check for our latest newsletter!
