Request from Joe Kott

Joe Kott, former Transportation Director for Palo Alto has the following request of College Terrace Residents:

Dear College Terrace Residents,

I am wrapping up my doctoral dissertation research on the relationship between street design and street use. The research study includes California Avenue in Palo Alto. If you are interested in participating in the research and have not yet done so, you many do so in the following ways:

  • Please "grade" (from A to B,C, D, or F - just like in school) each of the 12 photos in the Photobucket Album (click to view them) slide show. All 12 photos are Bay Area smaller city street scenes. How pleasing or attractive is each scene in your own subjective estimation? There is no "right" or "wrong" answer; it all depends on how you as an individual perceive each scene. Please then e-mail me (sustainablestreets@gmail.com) your "grade" list, one grade assigned to each of the 12 street scene photos The photos in the slide show are labeled from 1 through 12.

Again, please note the the "grade" represents your own purely subjective assessment of the visual quality of each street scene. Kindly note COLLEGE TERRACE in your e-mail so that I can categorize the data correctly.

  • Fill in an California Avenue Street Users Survey online. Please use the link below to access the online survey:
