Meeting called to order at 2:30 by President Kathy Durham. In attendance: Paul Garrett, Holly Welstein, Alexandra McFarland, Margaret Miller, Betsy Friebel, Margaret Miller, Paula Sandas. Absent: Donna Matheson.
Minutes from the 1/7/05 meeting were accepted.
OFFICERS' REPORTS
Treasurer: Paula reported for Chuck and Donna. They have worked to reconcile the first 3 quarters and there is a current bank balance of $4401.
Secretary: Holly noted that the nominating committee (Joan Segall, Susan Rosenberg, Linda Mahrt and Pria Graves) has recruited nominees for the Treasurer and Stanford Research Park Observer positions. The Secretary and Social Coordinator positions are still available. Betsy will send out a notice in the coming e-news. In order to develop a timeline for the Nominating Committee, the board set firm dates for the AAnnual Meeting on March 19 and the SSpring Picnic on April 23.
Communication Director: The next newsletter, announcing the Annual Meeting and reporting on the status of the Mayfield Agreement, will be distributed the first weekend in March. Copy must be submitted to Betsy by February 25.
Government/Stanford Observers: Alexandra is planning a March 9 meeting for the Parking Permit Plan Task Force. John Ciccarelli will assist at that meeting.
Kathy noted that the CTRA is co-sponsoring a forum on the storm drain election with the League of Women Voters and several other neighborhood associations. It will be held on March 10 at the Cultural Arts Center. Susan Rosenberg will submit an article on this topic for the February newsletter.
There is still no word on the schedule for CT local park renovations. Margaret will look into this before our next meeting.
BOARD PRIORITIES/MAJOR DISCUSSION ITEMS
Mayfield Agreement: The next step in the city process for the Mayfield agreement is a Planning and Transportation Commission hearing next Wednesday. Since many CT residents are concerned about a variety of traffic and design issues, CTRA has arranged an informational meeting for Sunday, Feb. 6 at 2 pm. City staff and commissioners will be on hand to speak and answer questions. We will set up in the Escondido School multi-purpose room at 1 pm. The board will not take an official position, but members are encouraged to comment to the commission as individuals. Betsy will send an e-news announcing this meeting and giving links for further information.
Libraries: Paula attended a "steering committee" of PA residents concerned about branch libraries last month. She is now planning a meeting to convene a College Terrace Library working group on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 11 am in the library. She will also be meeting Libraries Director Paula Simpson next week. Our lead newsletter article in February will be on the library situation.
Neighborhood Traffic Calming Trial: Kathy suggested inviting Joe Kott and Heba El Guendy to be the speakers at our annual meeting. There should be information about the coming implementation of the traffic calming trial at that time.
NEXT MEETING The next meeting will be Friday, March 4 at 2:30 pm at Kathy's home.
Respectfully submitted by Holly Welstein, Secretary.
